Why I abandoned Vista…

December 27, 2006 2 comments

This past weekend I finally succumbed to the urge and got myself an external drive to back up all my data (regularly now). The motivation? I got my hands on a license of a Vista Business release via MSDN, so I decided to give that a whirl. Small surprises aside (my built-in 3COM ethernet on a typical ASUS motherboard wasn’t detected by default, for gosh sakes) I was very pleased with how snappy and slick it looked. I’d enjoyed it thoroughly for about a day, that is until I tried to install my copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 to manage the digital photos… Whaaats that? Install simply failed to start. Period. Can’t do. Jeezus, its just an application, isn’t it? I guess its not that simple as far as Vista is concerned and Adobe is the first to admit this version won’t run on the latest and greatest OS from Microsoft. Wanna bet they’ll ask me to hand over some more cash for an “upgrade”? Can’t wait to find out. In the meantime, back to XP we go…
